Cycle #6 Feb. 3rd – Feb. 28th 2025
The Burnaby School District established the School Meal Program to provide a nutritious lunch to our students while at school.
The School District would like to welcome The Lunch Lady as the new School Meals entrées, supply and delivery program to Elementary Schools.
How to participate in the School Meal Program:
Approximately every four weeks a new menu and payment instructions will be sent by email to the families.
The cost of this program is currently $70 per month, per child.
Limited funding is available to school districts through the Ministry of Education and Child Care’s Feeding Futures Fund to provide food to students who need it most. If families are experiencing food security challenges or financial hardship, and children require a meal during the school day, subsidized meals are available.
We ask families who require subsidy to contribute what they can.
Please note: the monthly fee remains the same for each cycle and is averaged over the school year so does not change if there are holidays or Pro-D Days. For quantity ordering purposes, a student must participate in the full cycle, and not order/pay only for individual days in a menu cycle.
Registration and payment for the School Meal Program will be available every month on School Cash Online. You will receive from the school the email with the information that the item is available to be purchased and the relative due date.
Late registration and payment will NOT be accepted. Cash is no longer accepted.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION
- Children with life threatening food allergies should not participate in the School Meal Program.
- If your child has a legitimate milk allergy, please send a signed note from your family doctor.
- If your child cannot eat or does not like the food on any given day, please send a lunch from home – no substitutions are available.
- By selecting the veggie menu option, you commit your child to vegetarian meals for the entire month. It’s not an alternative to be chosen on days they dislike the regular menu or vice versa.
- It is the parents’ responsibility to review the monthly menu to ensure that their child is aware of any menu item that is prohibited due to dietary restriction and to instruct the child to avoid this menu item.
- On field trip days, students participating in the School Meal Program will be provided with a bag lunch consisting of a sandwich, an apple, and a juice box.
Despite our reasonable efforts, the school district cannot guarantee that there are no allergens in the menu items which may cause an anaphylactic reaction.
