Literacy Week: Jan. 29 – Feb. 2

Stride Literacy Week is January 29 to February 2!

Canada’s first Family Literacy Day began in 1999 and is now celebrated every January 27.

This year, Stride will hold a week-long literacy celebration featuring activities that include “Drop Everything and Read”, a Book Cover Design Contest, Community Guest Readers, Primary and Intermediate Literacy Station Rotations and a Book Swap.

Reading is a lifelong skill, whether you read for facts or for fun!  For ideas on how to celebrate family literacy at home, please visit:

Students are invited to bring gently-used paperback or hard-cover books to the library for the book swap.  These books can be dropped off at the library during class library blocks or whenever the library is opened.  The last day to drop off swap books is Wednesday, January 31

Students will receive 1 Stride Book Buck for every book they bring.  Book Bucks will be handed out on the day of the swap.  Students will go to the library and choose the same number of books they brought from home.  Ex. 3 books from home = 3 Book Bucks = 3 books to choose.

If you have any questions, please visit Ms. Pang in the library on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays or contact her by email at Yvonne.Pang@sd41.bc.ca.  Thank you for your support!
